Directions: I-5 to Camp Pendleton Main Gate (Camp Pendleton/Oceanside Harbor Dr. exit). From the Main Gate continue on Vandegrift Blvd. for 9.25 miles to Rattlesnake Canyon Rd. Turn right on Rattlesnake Canyon Rd. and continue 1.2 miles to a traffic light. Go straight through the light (now becomes 16th St). Continue on 16th Street .70 of a mile (street curves to the left) to a dirt parking lot on the right just before building 14127. Thomas Bros:

How can you go wrong. 99.9% off-road trail with Turkey (~4.5 miles) Eagle (~6.0 miles) split, also walker trail about three miles. To drive your car on Camp Pendleton you will need a valid driver's license, current registration and proof of insurance. If the gate sentry asks for your destination tell him, "14 area, to participate in a fun run". If asked who it is sponsored by tell him "Lt Col Mike Collier". Consider car pooling from Carmel Valley Road or La Costa Ave park-n-rides. Base regulations require that all dogs be on a leash. The run goes into "coyote country", if you bring your dog keep it close.
