History of the San Diego Hash House Harriers

1981 Jock

Arriving in San Diego after a tour of duty in Okinawa, Jock and Mary Poppins missed this fun group of people who called themselves the Hash House Harriers. So they set out at creating a Hash in San Diego.

1982 Jock

The Hash ran on Friday of the first week of the month, then Saturday of the following week and then on Sunday the following week.
The Hash Run alternated which day of the week it ran on so anyone could attend no matter what work schedule.

1983 Jock

The Hash continued to grow in popularity with Jock as GM and Mary Poppins performing all other mismanagement postitions.

1984 Flasher

In 1984 the first change in mismanagement occurred.
Flasher was elected to run the Hash as General Manager (GM)

1985 Thumper

1985 Thumper is elected as the first Harriette GM to the San Diego Hash House Harriers.

- Jock moves to Long Beach and establishes the Long Beach Hash House Harriers

1986 Van Go

1986 Van Go is elected as the SDH3 GM.

The Hash continued to grow, and people wanted more,
Van Go added Friday night to the SDH3 run schedule.

- Full Moon Hash Established Oct 19, 1986

1987 Mr Spock

1987 Mr Spock is elected as the SDH3 GM.

1988 Mary Poppins

12 August the Red Dress Run is hared by:
Bumps, Goulash & Primo-Donna.

1988 Mary Poppins is elected as SDH3 GM.
The Hash has become so popular Mary Poppins starts conducting Down Downs using a MegaPhone.

1988 is the first year all San Diego Area Hashers join together to host the San Dieguito Half Marathon.
Hosting the San Dieguito Half Marathon continues as an annual tradition and with the support of the Hash House Harriers, this Half Marathon continues to be one of the few runs where you can enjoy numerous libations after the run.

1989 Peter Meter

1989 Peter Meter is elected as the SDH3 GM.
San Diego Hosts InterAmerica's Hash with some help from Orange County hashers

1990 Rambyte

1990 Rambyte is elected as the SDH3 GM.

The trail at this AGM will long be remembered for 99% of the pack coming down with Poison Oak.
